Deu 5:29 O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!
It was for this reason, that Christ came, to put within those who love HIM, a heart WILLING and WANTING to serve HIM... from their HEART!!
Heb 4:1 Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.
Heb 4:2 For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
Heb 4:3 For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
Heb 4:4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.
And here:
Heb 4:7 Again, he limiteth a **certain day**, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
Heb 4:8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
Heb 4:9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
If Christ, is the Sabbath, and we no longer should rest on the seventh day, then why would HE say here:
Heb 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
Heb 4:11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
How could we labour to enter into that rest, if Christ is the Sabbath.
Instead, we should labour to keep that certain day Holy to HIM... to take that one day of the week, and dedicate it to HIM... for we are so busy throughout the week, HE only asks us to give HIM the one day back, to serve HIM, and to serve HIS kingdom.
And the Sabbath was practiced by the Hebrews coming out of Egypt, BEFORE the Law was given, before Mt. Sinai...
Exo 16:23 And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD: bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.
And Paul tells us, those who truly believe in Christ, are circumcised int here heart, and are then Jews spiritually.
Rom 2:28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
Rom 2:29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
So, if we are Jew inwardly, then the Sabbath is a sign, between you and HIM, FOREVER
Exo 31:17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.
But... keeping the Sabbath HAS to be from the heart... we have to WANT to keep the Sabbath... keeping it because we HAVE to, is dead works... Only those who the Holy Spirit resides within, will WANT to keep HIS laws. For THIS is the new covenant.
Heb 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
The old covenant was done away with, because their hearts were hardened against HIM... the Law was never done away with, only the covenant.
It was because of their hardened hearts, that HE FORCED the law upon them:
Heb 8:9 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.
Exo 20:18 And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off.
Deu 5:28 And the LORD heard the voice of your words, when ye spake unto me; and the LORD said unto me, I have heard the voice of the words of this people, which they have spoken unto thee: they have well said all that they have spoken.
